I’m a real estate broker in both Minnesota and South West Florida, this gives me the perspective to look at the market in both states. The market around the country has been changing quickly due to interest rates jumping at a rapid rate. Quick rising interest rates impact buyers who are using financing to purchase a home. High interest rates make homes less affordable by pushing up monthly mortgage payments, thus pushing buyer demand down. In Florida I’m seeing the market change quickly, lots of inventory coming on the market in all price ranges. Here in Lakeville Minnesota I’m not seeing the rise in inventory in all price ranges, especially entry level. If interest rates continue to rise, we anticipate slowly seeing inventory come on the market, and some buyers will take a pause to buying due to higher interest rates this will help lower the competition, lower buyer demand may allow more buying options in all categories. So far, it looks like the higher you go in purchase price the more options you have in Lakeville. We will continue to watch and see if the market starts to change, if it does it looks like it will start from high end and work down.
